In Northeast Ohio, February is usually the coldest and snowiest month of the calendar year.
Some enjoy it, I know I do. I love sitting comfortably in my cozy house with a warm fireplace going while looking out the window at the cold, snowy weather.
February is also known as the month of love. Everyone knows what February 14th represents- Valentine's Day. A day to celebrate love, and express it to your loved ones. Cards, flowers, teddy bears, candy, chocolates; the list could go on and on.
It is clear our greatest need is to love and to be loved!
The Bible has several words that express the different aspects of love. For instance:
- Agapao- A benevolent love, willfully seeking good from another.
- Phileo- A friendship or fondness, a brotherly love.
- Eros- Feelings of love and intimacy, expressed between a husband and wife.
- Agape- A godly, unconditional and sacrificial love. Christ expressed this- while we were still sinners, He died for us.
Each one of these types of love we see expressed in daily life.
A life that God gave to us to be lived for Him. So, in this life God gave us... and in this month of love... let's be sure we love each other and certainly God.
"So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” - John 13: 34-35 (NLT)
So, DO IT! You will be blessed if you do.
Blessings,
Pastor Dale
